He was the only Jaguars player who didn't practice. "I feel better than yesterday," Taylor said. "I've got to see the doctor. They didn't want to re-sign him to a contract beyond this year until they saw improvement in his performance. Yet by waiting, they've risked losing Davis to free agency, or paying a hefty premium for his services in 2007. Through the first few weeks of the season, Davis did little to push the Cardinals to the bargaining table for a new contract. San Francisco 49ers 12/22/2006 8:38 AMThe Contra Costa Times reports in one of his last pass rush practice plays of the day, 49ers NT Ronald Fields ripped upward with his left arm and smacked into the elbow of an offensive lineman. He thought little of the throbbing in his arm at first and went ahead and finished Wednesday's practice. When he went into the locker room, he had his arm examined by trainer Jeff Ferguson, who discovered the fracture.Read more

"It's coming along pretty well," he said. "I'm just trying to get the range of motion down, week by week increasing it." Pace wears a large brace that not only provides support but also measures his improvement. "They have a gauge on there, and once I get it to 90 degrees, then I'll be fine" to begin more intense rehab, he said.Read more
