How things had changed by Monday, when Burress spent seven hours in Manhattan as the focal point of police, criminal court, politicians, media and the craning necks of swarms of onlookers. From 8:03 a.m. to 3:19 p.m. Monday, Burress turned himself into police, was charged with two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a gun, posted $100,000 in bail and slipped out the back entrance of New York Criminal Court with his wife, Tiffany, beside him.Read more
Green Bay Packers 12/02/2008 9:00 AMThe Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports judging from the reaction of the Green Bay Packers' coaches, CB Charles Woodson will be playing safety for a while. Woodson made his debut there Sunday in the 35-31 loss to Carolina, filling in for starter Atari Bigby and backup Aaron Rouse, who were both out with ankle injuries. The move allowed the club to insert nickel cornerback Tramon Williams into a starting position and get what it considers its four best available defensive backs on the field.Read more
Indianapolis Colts 12/02/2008 8:54 AMThe Indianapolis Star reports Colts coach Tony Dungy couldn't provide an update Monday on the status of middle linebacker Gary Brackett's right lower leg, but the coach offered a short-term prognosis. "Given the fact that he had to go get X-rays, I'd say he's very highly doubtful for this week," Dungy said of Cincinnati's visit to Lucas Oil Stadium. Dungy added that his early guess on defensive tackle Keyunta Dawson is that he will miss a couple of weeks with a pulled hamstring. Both players were injured during the second quarter Sunday, when the Colts won 10-6 at Cleveland. Both are at critical positions.Read more
Jacksonville Jaguars 12/02/2008 8:52 AMThe Florida Times-Union reports WR Jerry Porter was the target of the ESPN commentators when he dropped a second-quarter pass on third down to kill a drive. Mike Tirico called Porter a "disastrous free-agent signing," Ron Jaworski said it was a "horrible drop," and Kornheiser said Porter got $10 million (in guaranteed money) for one touchdown catch. Porter caught a 32-yard pass in the third quarter, but it was called back by a facemask penalty on TE George Wrighster, who was playing for the first time this season after spending 11 weeks on the physically unable to perform list.Read more
