Baltimore Ravens 12/11/2008 8:29 AMThe Star-Ledger reports the Jets may be reeling, but Brett Favre isn't ready to press the panic button after back-to-back losses. The veteran quarterback didn't make any bold guarantees, but he fully believes the Jets are bound for the postseason. "I expect us to make the playoffs," Favre said Wednesday. "I would hope that every guy in the locker room feels the same way. Why think any different?" Favre, frankly, wasn't too concerned with the Jets history of failure, either.Read more
New York Giants 12/11/2008 7:58 AMThe Star-Ledger reports WR Plaxico Burress was due $1 million Wednesday. According to the NFL Players' Association, he didn't see a penny of it. Burress was scheduled to receive that money as a deferred payment that was part of the $4.25-million signing bonus on his new contract from September. But that was before he shot a hole in his thigh and was suspended by the team. "The Giants have decided to forgo payment of his signing bonus," NFLPA spokesman Carl Francis said in an e-mail sent minutes ago. "Therefore, we will file a claim in the appropriate forum to enforce his rights to receive and keep the monies entitled to him under his player contract." The union already filed a grievance yesterday, saying the Giants were in violation of the collective bargaining agreement by suspending Burress. Today's issue will be a separate filing, according to Francis.Read more
Cleveland Browns 12/04/2008 8:51 AMAP reports his future in doubt, Cleveland Browns General Manager Phil Savage is moving ahead with plans for 2009 without knowing if he'll be around to see them through. Savage, who has come under added scrutiny since sending a profane e-mail to a fan a few weeks ago, said Wednesday, Dec. 3, he hopes to return next season. Last week, Browns owner Randy Lerner said he will wait until January before deciding the future of Savage and head coach Romeo Crennel. "I've got four years left on a contract," said Savage, who joined the Browns in 2005 and is signed through 2012. "I'd love to be able to finish that out. He (Lerner) said everything is under review. I'm an open book. I can walk with my head held high. I think we have done a lot of positive things here. Is the job finished? No.Read more
Miami Dolphins 12/04/2008 8:49 AMThe Palm Beach Post reports the Dolphins' contest in Toronto on Sunday is officially a home game for Buffalo, but Miami's Ricky Williams might feel more at home than any of the Bills. The city of Toronto and the Argonauts of the Canadian Football League provided a refuge for the embattled running back in 2006. He signed a one-year deal with Toronto after the NFL suspended him for violating the league's substance-abuse policy. His CFL season was interrupted for two months by injuries. Nevertheless, he said Wednesday that he enjoyed his Canadian experience so much that he might someday return to the CFL in some capacity - "playing, coaching, wherever I am in my career and whatever I feel like doing."Read more
