Jacksonville Jaguars 12/26/2006 11:05 AMThe Florida Times-Union reports even when RB Maurice Jones-Drew appears to be, he's not always down. He proved that Sunday with a 74-yard touchdown run in the second quarter after he bumped into Kyle Brady and hit the ground. When none of the Patriots touched him, Drew alertly got up and ran into the end zone. "I was running, and I didn't get a chance to see Kyle, who was doing a great job of blocking the defensive end and kind of bounced off," Drew said. "Nobody touched me, so I got up and took off running, and a linebacker tried to throw me, but I kept running. Then [Rodney] Harrison tried to get my leg, and then I ran into the end zone.'' Drew was filling in for Fred Taylor, who missed the game with a hamstring injury.Read more

New York Jets 12/26/2006 2:45 AMThe Star-Ledger reports it was first down at the Jets' 20 yard line with 2:09 remaining in the game. The play called was a screen pass to RB Leon Washington. Washington caught the ball on the right side of the field, just beyond where the offensive tackle lines up -- and it was off to the races. The rookie shifted into overdrive and the Dolphins didn't have a chance as his 64-yard catch and run set up K Mike Nugent's game-winning 30-yarder with 10 seconds to play to give the Jets a 13-10 victory over the Dolphins last night.Read more
Minnesota Vikings 12/26/2006 2:42 AMThe Pioneer Press reports if he were stuffing stockings, Vikings HC Brad Childress probably would have filled WR Marcus Robinson's with coal. On Christmas Eve, two days after Robinson spoke candidly in an interview with the Pioneer Press, the veteran wide receiver was released by the Vikings. Rick Spielman, the team's vice president of player personnel, called Robinson about 1 p.m. Sunday and informed him that the club was cutting him immediately. Robinson, who is under contract through 2007, could draw interest from potential playoff teams and could be claimed off the waiver wire after 48 hours pass since his release. In explaining the decision, Spielman told Robinson that things were not working out. A team spokesman confirmed the news shortly after 4 p.m. Sunday and was not aware of an immediate corresponding move.Read more
