Vikings release Robinson
Minnesota Vikings12/26/2006 2:42 AM The Pioneer Press reports if he were stuffing stockings, Vikings HC Brad Childress probably would have filled WR Marcus Robinson's with coal. On Christmas Eve, two days after Robinson spoke candidly in an interview with the Pioneer Press, the veteran wide receiver was released by the Vikings. Rick Spielman, the team's vice president of player personnel, called Robinson about 1 p.m. Sunday and informed him that the club was cutting him immediately. Robinson, who is under contract through 2007, could draw interest from potential playoff teams and could be claimed off the waiver wire after 48 hours pass since his release. In explaining the decision, Spielman told Robinson that things were not working out. A team spokesman confirmed the news shortly after 4 p.m. Sunday and was not aware of an immediate corresponding move. Read more
