Tampa Bay Buccaneers 02/07/2007 12:54 PMThe Tampa Tribune reports since 1997, a trip to the Pro Bowl has been as much a part of LB Derrick Brooksâ football season as training camp workouts, games on Sundays and practice sessions at One Buc Place. As it turns out, this season will be just like all the others since then. Though he was not initially voted onto this yearâs NFC Pro Bowl squad, Brooks is headed to Hawaii as a replacement for Bears LB Lance Briggs, who opted out of the game Tuesday because of an injury. Brooks, who has played in the Pro Bowl seven times and has now earned his 10th consecutive Pro Bowl nod, joins Bucs CB Ronde Barber and long snapper Dave Moore on this yearâs NFC squad.Read more
San Francisco 49ers 02/07/2007 12:48 PMThe Contra Costa Times reports two-time Pro Bowl C Jeremy Newberry hopes to continue his playing career, preferably with the Raiders, after being told by the 49ers that they have no plans to re-sign him. Newberry, an Antioch High School graduate who is eligible for unrestricted free agency, said Tuesday that he received word of the 49ers' decision during a recent meeting with offensive line coach George Warhop.Read more
Arizona Cardinals 02/07/2007 12:45 PMThe Arizona Republic reports the Arizona Cardinals added four more coaches to Ken Whisenhunt's staff Tuesday. The team has announced the hiring of Freddie Kitchens as tight ends coach, Jeff Rutledge as the new quarterbacks coach, Mike Miller will be the offensive assistant, while Matt Raich will be the defensive quality control coach. In addition, the team will retain Rick Courtright as assistant defensive back coach and Richie Anderson will switch from tight ends to wide receivers coach.Read more
