Washington Redskins 03/01/2007 10:52 AMThe Washington Post reports the Redskins are still trying to rework CB Shawn Springs's contract, but there has been no progress in that matter this month and Springs could be released in June to alleviate the salary cap hit. The Redskins are expected to make a push to sign free agent CB Nate Clements (Buffalo) and many in the organization would be open to bringing back former Redskins CB Fred Smoot if he is released by Minnesota this week as expected.Read more
Minnesota Vikings 03/01/2007 10:47 AMThe Pioneer Press reports QB Brad Johnson got his wish Wednesday when the Vikings granted the 15-year NFL quarterback his release so he can seek a better opportunity with another team. As to where he and the Vikings go from here, that remains uncertain. Johnson's release was the first of a handful of anticipated roster moves for the Vikings, who are expected to release CB Fred Smoot and TE Jermaine Wiggins before the start of free agency at 11 tonight.Read more
