The Post-Gazette reports rookie LB Lawrence Timmons tried to practice this week, but the coach opted to give him more time to rest his injured groin. HC Tom Tomlin said the team's top draft pick should be ready to practice at the start of training camp, and he hoped he would miss no time because of contract talks. Read more

Kendall rips Jets, demands trade

The Star-Ledger reports after a brief but heated exchange with HC Eric Mangini on Wednesday night upon his arrival for a mandatory minicamp, disgruntled veteran OG Pete Kendall unleashed an attack on the Jets organization yesterday for refusing to renegotiate his contract and demanded to be traded or released. Kendall, who is due to earn a $1.7 million base salary and is seeking a $1 million raise, called the club “unprofessional” and said Mangini has refused to return his phone calls even though the pair had an amicable meeting following the season regarding a new deal. Arbitrator to hear Culpepper's grievance

The Palm Beach Post reports QB Daunte Culpepper will have his grievance against the Dolphins heard before a special arbitrator on June 29, according to Carl Francis, the spokesman for the NFL players' union. A ruling could be made within a week of the hearing, which is expected to take place in New York. Culpepper will be represented by NFLPA general counsel Richard Berthelson. Attorneys with the NFL management council are expected to represent the Dolphins. The NFLPA contends the Dolphins breached Culpepper's contract when they did not allow him to participate in team drills during practice at last weekend's mini-camp. Read more
