The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports WR Donald Driver watched practice at Ray Nitschke Field with a nagging right shoulder injury that he has had for more than seven months. He did not pass his physical Friday because he is lacking arm strength and therefore has been placed on the physically unable to perform list. Read more

Browns' Winslow plays through pain

The Dayton Daily News reports TE Kellen Winslow Jr. tied Ozzie Newsome's single-season Cleveland Browns record with 89 catches last year, but Winslow wasn't himself. His knee hurt. It hurt all the time. So it was back under the knife this past offseason for another procedure. Not just a cleanup job as some thought, but ominous-sounding microfracture surgery. "Piece of cake," the tight end joked Saturday morning after his second workout with the team in less than 24 hours. Winslow's problems with his right knee stem from the anterior cruciate tear suffered in a motorcycle crash in the spring of 2005. At that point, he was still recovering from breaking a bone in the same leg in Week 2 of his rookie season. The combination of injuries cost him nearly two full seasons. Fans showed appreciation for the extent of Winslow's travails by standing and cheering his entrance to the practice field Friday, the first day of training camp. Read more

Willis, 49ers agree to terms

The Mercury News reports negotiating into the night, the 49ers and the agent for top draft pick LB Patrick Willis reached agreement Saturday on a contract ensuring the former University of Mississippi linebacker's participation in today's first training camp practice. Willis signed off on the deal shortly before midnight, according to team spokesman Aaron Salkin. Read more

Raiders sign 2nd-round pick

The Mercury News reports second-round draft pick TE Zach Miller signed a contract with the Raiders and was at practice Saturday. That leaves first-round draft pick QB JaMarcus Russell as the lone player without a contract and absent from training camp. HC Lane Kiffin said the Raiders and Russell's agent, Eric Metz, continue to make progress toward a resolution on a contract that figures to net Russell in the neighborhood of $25 million to $30 million guaranteed.
