Rookie WR gives Colts more than they expected

Indianapolis Colts
01/02/2008 8:28 AM
The Indianapolis Star reports WR Anthony Gonzalez's role was spelled out shortly after the Indianapolis Colts latched onto him with the final pick in the first round of the April draft. The shifty, speedy slot receiver out of Ohio State was viewed as a valuable complement to QB Peyton Manning's already well-stocked offense. Baltimore Ravens

The Post-Gazette reports there was a mix of good news with the bad on the Steelers' injury front. Not all of their injured players remained that way. QB Ben Roethlisberger, WR Hines Ward and S Troy Polamalu all are likely to return to play Saturday night after each missed the regular-season closer in Baltimore. Roethlisberger, who technically missed the game with a sprained ankle, "is going to be fine. We expect full participation from him," HC Mike Tomlin said. Polamalu still has some swelling in a previously injured knee, and he and Ward probably will be limited in practice today. Read more
