Jacksonville Jaguars 01/16/2008 8:16 AMThe Florida Times-Union reports fresh off a season-ending playoff loss in New England, Jaguars DE Brent Hawkins was arrested on a drunken driving charge Monday after Jacksonville police said he sped by a patrol car over the Intracoastal Waterway. The second-year player was arrested about 2:30 a.m. after police said field sobriety tests indicated his impairment. He refused a breath test, and his driver's license was confiscated, according to an arrest report.Read more
Indianapolis Colts 01/16/2008 8:14 AMThe Indianapolis Star reports if someone other than Tony Dungy leads the Indianapolis Colts into Lucas Oil Stadium next fall, he will do so with a pat hand. Or at least a loaded roster. Seventeen of 22 starters, along with the place-kicker, punter and long snapper, from a team that became the first in NFL history to win at least 12 games in five consecutive seasons are under contract. Tennessee Titans 01/16/2008 8:12 AMThe Nashville Tennessean reports conventional wisdom said the Titans struggled on offense this season because they didn't have enough playmakers and their quarterback underachieved. Coach Jeff Fisher apparently thought otherwise, so on Tuesday he called offensive coordinator Norm Chow and fired him. The Titans are expected to move quickly to replace Chow and have their sights set on Denver Broncos assistant head coach Mike Heimerdinger, who was Fisher's offensive coordinator from 2000-04.Read more
Seattle Seahawks 01/16/2008 8:09 AMThe Seattle Times reports Seahawks WR Deion Branch has a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and could be out of action for nine months, coach Mike Holmgren said Tuesday. Branch, a former Super Bowl Most Valuable Player acquired in a 2006 trade with New England for Seattle's first-round pick in 2007, will have surgery in the coming days. Dr. James Andrews will perform the surgery in Birmingham, Ala. Under the current timetable for recovery, Branch wouldn't return until the second month of the regular season. But even that prognosis might be too optimistic.Read more
