RB Jackson likely to miss game vs. 49ers

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports barring a miraculous recovery entering today's practice, running back Steven Jackson will miss his third contest in the past four games Sunday at San Francisco. After taking part in his most extensive practice Wednesday since suffering a strained right thigh muscle Oct. 19 against Dallas, Jackson was on the sidelines Thursday at Rams Park. As the Rams gathered for their stretching period at the start of practice, Jackson — wearing sweats — headed indoors for rehab work. Read more

Gore says he's ready to go against the Rams

The San Francisco Chronicle reports after earlier in the day saying he had a concussion and a headache from Monday night's game in Arizona, RB Frank Gore recanted late Thursday afternoon and said he feels fine and will be ready for Sunday's game against the Rams at Candlestick Park. "I'll be all right," said Gore, who has not practiced all week but expects to work today. "I think I jammed it (his neck). I was out of it for a while. I'll be fine." Read more

Raiders' receiver Walker man out for season

The San Francisco Chronicle reports Raiders wide receiver Javon Walker: 15 catches, $12 million and that's a wrap. Walker limped into the locker room on crutches Thursday and said his injured left ankle will undergo season-ending surgery today, ending his first Raiders' season after nine games.  "I'm done for the season," Walker said. "They've got to put some screws in."Walker led all Raiders receivers with 15 catches for 196 yards, but he didn't exactly live up to his free-agent billing. He had two or fewer catches in six of the seven games he played - and had seven or fewer receiving yards three times. Read more

Parker will return, but mobility limited

The Post-Gazette reports when he makes another return from yet another injury, Willie Parker will be wearing a protective brace on his shoulder that will restrict his ability to lift his arm above his head. This should provide a simple mandate for Ben Roethlisberger: Don't throw Parker, a two-time Pro Bowl running back, any high passes. Parker will wear the brace because his shoulder popped out of joint and tore the labrum in a Nov. 3 game against the Washington Redskins, an injury that wasn't detected until Parker complained the next day that his shoulder was sore.
