Delhomme back on field, thumb better

The Charlotte Observer reports for the first time since Dec. 4, it's thumbs-up for QB Jake Delhomme. The Carolina Panthers quarterback returned to practice Wednesday, and there is a chance he will play Sunday in a game that could decide if the team will reach the playoffs. Delhomme, who damaged ligaments in his right thumb in a loss at Philadelphia, took snaps with the first team and said he had no trouble throwing the ball. Read more

T. Brown questionable with knee injury

The Nashville Tennessean reports Titans DL Tony Brown suffered a right knee injury during Wednesday's practice and is questionable for Sunday's game against the Patriots. Brown was helped up by trainers and taken off the field on a cart. An MRI on the knee later was negative, but Brown's status for Sunday is uncertain. Read more

Taylor works out, but Grant does not

The Florida Times-Union reports Jaguars RB Fred Taylor returned to practice Wednesday after sitting out last week's 24-21 loss to the New England Patriots with a hamstring injury. But the Jaguars might be without starting FS Deon Grant for the regular-season finale Sunday against the Chiefs in Kansas City, Mo. Grant suffered a strained hamstring against the Patriots, and he is listed on the Jaguars' injury report as doubtful. Grant didn't practice Wednesday. Read more

Lions place Bryant on IR

The Detroit Free Press reports the Lions put CB Fernando Bryant (concussion) on injured reserve and signed CB Dee McCann off the practice squad. ... TE Casey Fitzsimmons suffered a separated shoulder Sunday against Chicago and is doubtful for the finale. Read more
