Wright spent two years at UNLV after transferring from Southern California. The native of San Francisco practiced with the Rebels but sat out the 2005 season per NCAA transfer rules and then started at cornerback and kickoff return man this past fall.Read more
Houston Texans 12/28/2006 12:09 PMThe Houston Chronicle reports the Texans placed DE Anthony Weaver on injured reserve with a rotator cuff injury he suffered during Sunday's win over the Indianapolis Colts. Weaver will undergo surgery to repair the shoulder injury this week, and recovery is expected to take four to six months. "We're going to get it fixed as soon as possible and get him going on rehab," HC Gary Kubiak said. "I think he could probably fight through it, but instead of him going out there this week and making it worse, we'll go ahead and try to get it fixed. The Texans signed DE Earl Cochran from the practice squad to the 53-man roster. He will play on Sunday.Read more

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 12/28/2006 12:00 PMThe Tampa Tribune reports QB Chris Simms showed up at One Buc Place on Wednesday wearing the Christmas gift he got from the Bucs training staff. It's a black T-shirt with the phrase "Got Spleen?" written in white across the chest. The answer, of course, is no. Simms has no spleen. It was removed after it was ruptured during the Bucs' third game of the season. Simms does have a new contract, however. It's for big money, too. How big? "I think it's starter's money," Simms said after he officially signed a two-year deal that could net him as much as $14.5 million if he cashes in on all of its incentives.Read more
