Nine more to play in Senior Bowl

SeniorBowl.com reports fans watching Friday’s five college football bowl games will have the opportunity to see nine more outstanding NFL draft prospects who will be headed to Mobile for the 2007 Under Armour Senior Bowl. Included in the group is Houston’s record-setting QB Kevin Kolb, the 2006 Conference USA Offensive Player of the Year, Unitas Award finalist and one of the most prolific passers in NCAA history. Kolb’s Cougars will battle South Carolina in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl, who will be represented in the Senior Bowl by All-SEC DB Fred Bennett. Read more

The Seattle Times reports when Seattle HC Mike Holmgren went looking for Deion Branch after last Sunday's game, the wide receiver had already left the locker room. Branch wanted out of Qwest Field, the quicker the better, so he could forget about his four dropped passes in the 20-17 loss to San Diego. Then came the process of trying to move on. Branch was finally able to do that for good Wednesday when the team practiced for the first time this week following the Christmas holiday. "It'll never go away until the next game," Branch said. "You'll always have another game. I'm over it. I just want to go out and help my team. That's what I was brought here for, to help my team win a game, not to contribute to a loss." Read more

Green nears yardage milestone

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports there's more than just the playoffs and a team record on the line. There's a decent chunk of change, too. If Green Bay RB Ahman Green can get just 12 rushing yards Sunday night at Chicago, he'll have 1,000 this season. That would be his sixth 1,000-yard rushing season as a Packer, a team record. He would surpass Jim Taylor, who had five 1,000-yard rushing seasons in his Green Bay career. When Green signed a one-year contract before this season, one of the incentives was an additional $500,000 if he could get 950 rushing yards. He's already earned that. Read more
