Lewis doesn't expect LB Thurman back with Bengals

AP reports HC Marvin Lewis refused to talk about suspended LB Odell Thurman on Tuesday, another indication that he has written him out of the Cincinnati Bengals' plans. Thurman was suspended for the season because he violated the NFL's substance abuse policy. He can apply to the league for reinstatement before next season. Lewis has been upset with the middle linebacker's repeated off-field problems, and took his locker away when the NFL handed down its suspension. Lewis also told Thurman to stay away from the team. "Odell is not a member of this football team," Lewis said Tuesday. "He's on suspension by the NFL. He's got a long road to go. I'm not even going to spend any time talking about Odell. "We're talking about our '07 season. He's not part of this football team. We don't need to talk about it." Read more

SeniorBowl.com reports Tuesday’s FedEx Orange Bowl match-up between Louisville and Wake Forest will not only feature three more outstanding NFL draft prospects who will play in the 2007 Under Armour Senior Bowl, but also the youngest player in Senior Bowl history in 19-year old DE Amobi Okoye of Louisville. Joining Louisville’s All-Big East defensive tackle will be his Cardinals’ teammate RB Kolby Smith, the team’s leading rusher in 2006, while Wake Forest will be represented in the Senior Bowl by first-team All-Big East S Josh Gattis. Players now believe Cowher is quitting

The Post-Gazette reports some Steelers players came from yesterday's meeting with HC Bill Cowher believing even more firmly that he will quit as their coach. Cowher met with his players and assistant coaches as a group yesterday morning and then spent the rest of the day meeting with each of them individually. The feeling in the organization -- from management to the players -- is that Cowher will step down after 15 seasons and with one year left on his contract. Read more

Cardinals eye Chow for coach vacancy

The Nashville Tennessean reports Titans offensive coordinator Norm Chow is a candidate to be the next head coach of the Arizona Cardinals, who fired Dennis Green on Monday. Titans HC Jeff Fisher confirmed Monday night that the Cardinals had contacted the Titans to request permission to speak with Chow but had no other comment. Read more
