Henry has knee problem

The Star-Telegram reports CB Anthony Henry has been slowed by a swollen bursa sac in his knee that has limited his range of motion. Henry elected not to have it drained for fear of infection. The only way it can heal is rest. "I feel like I'm not where I need to be, but at the same time I feel like I'm well enough to make plays," he said. "Last week I was fine." Read more

Pennington named AP Comeback Player of Year

The Star-Ledger reports QB Chad Pennington, who wasn't blessed with the strongest arm in the first place, overcame it all to lead the Jets to a 10-6 record and the playoffs this season. Yesterday, Pennington completed his made-for-television story by earning the Associated Press Comeback Player of the Year award in a landslide vote. He received 27 votes, followed by the Saints' QB Drew Brees (8 1/2) and the Bengals' QB Carson Palmer (5 1/2). Read more

Taylor appears in court

The Pioneer Press reports Vikings WR Travis Taylor has a Jan. 23 pre-trial hearing at the Hennepin County Government Center on charges stemming from his arrest early Monday outside a downtown Minneapolis nightclub. Taylor, 27, made his first court appearance Wednesday and was charged with one count of fourth-degree assault and one of obstructing the legal process, both gross misdemeanors, in addition to a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct. Texans' Sherman interviews with Cardinals

The Houston Chronicle reports Mike Sherman's quest to become a head coach in the NFL again began Thursday. Sherman, currently the Texans' assistant head coach/offense, interviewed with the Arizona Cardinals. "I've been on a number of interviews at different times in my career," Sherman said at a news conference after his interview in Tempe, Ariz. "This is probably the most in-depth, organized one that I think I've been on." The Cardinals, who fired HC Dennis Green on Monday, are well into their coaching search. Read more
