Kansas City Chiefs 01/08/2007 10:20 AMThe Kansas City Star reports one day after a pathetic performance bounced his team from the playoffs, HC Herm Edwards promised offensive changes for the Chiefs in 2007. Edwards said he couldnât be specific about many of the changes because they are still to be decided. But he indicated they would probably include a different scheme â and maybe a new starting quarterback. They wonât include a new coordinator. Edwards said Mike Solari would continue in that job no matter what type of offense the Chiefs use. Atlanta Falcons 01/08/2007 10:10 AMThe Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports the Atlanta Falcons will name Bobby Petrino of the University of Louisville as their new head coach Monday, the team announced Sunday night. "Bobby Petrino is an extremely talented football coach who has done some tremendously innovative things as both an offensive coordinator and head coach, and he brings to us a record of success at the collegiate and professional levels," Falcons owner Arthur Blank said in a statement released by the team. "There is no question that he has a sharp mind, he is demanding and disciplined, and he is a motivator and developer of players. In short, he's a difference maker who will bring a strong identity to the Falcons â one our team will buy into and take on as their own."Read more
Miami Dolphins 01/08/2007 10:08 AMThe Palm Beach Post reports the Dolphins have added Southern California coach Pete Carroll to their list of head-coaching candidates, a source said Sunday, and team officials might already have talked to Carroll. Carroll, according to a Los Angeles Daily News report, is on vacation in Costa Rica, and a plane owned by Dolphins owner Wayne Huizenga was in Costa Rica on Saturday. Huizenga's plane, which has a Dolphins logo on its tail, was used to take the owner to interviews in Atlanta, San Diego, Chicago and Pittsburgh. The Dolphins interviewed six candidates on Thursday and Friday: former Atlanta Falcons coach Jim Mora, Georgia Tech coach Chan Gailey, San Diego Chargers offensive coordinator Cam Cameron, Chicago Bears coordinators Ron Rivera (defense) and Ron Turner (offense), and Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt.Read more
