Parcells retiring after four seasons in Dallas

AP reports Bill Parcells retired from coaching Monday, leaving the Dallas Cowboys after four seasons and ending a stellar career that featured three Super Bowl appearances and two championships. The decision came 15 days after the Cowboys' season ended with a heartbreaking playoff loss in Seattle. He'd been at his office nearly every day since, and there were other indications that the 65-year-old coach was returning for a fifth year in Dallas and 20th as an NFL head coach. Read more

Surgery for Jones

The Seattle Times reports left OT Walter Jones is among the Seahawks expected to undergo arthroscopic surgery in the offseason. He likely will undergo procedures on his knee and shoulder after participating in the Pro Bowl next month. The recovery time should not be extensive. Read more

Browns name Chudzinski as OC

The Cleveland Browns have named Rob Chudzinski as offensive coordinator, the club announced this morning.  Chudzinski joins the Browns from the San Diego Chargers where he served the last two seasons as tight ends coach.  Chudzinksi brings 13 years of coaching experience, including three in the NFL and ten years in the collegiate ranks. Chudzinski, a native of Toledo, Ohio, previously served as Browns tight ends coach during the 2004 season under Head Coach Butch Davis and also served as offensive coordinator for the final five games under interim Head Coach Terry Robiskie. Sarkisian rebuffs the Raiders

The Contra Costa Times reports the Raiders received a major jolt Friday in the form of USC assistant head coach/quarterbacks coach Steve Sarkisian turning down an offer to coach the team, two people close to the process confirmed. The Raiders had a different take on the proceedings. Read more
