Jones starts process within own ranks

The Star-Telegram reports day one of life after Bill Parcells began with the Cowboys looking inside the organization for their next head coach. According to team sources, owner Jerry Jones planned to talk to receivers coach Todd Haley, offensive line coach Tony Sparano and secondary coach Todd Bowles. All three are under contract for next season and probably will remain with the team no matter which direction the coaching search takes. Read more

Miami's Mueller suddenly hot topic

The Palm Beach Post reports Dolphins GM Randy Mueller said Tuesday that being back at the Senior Bowl with full control of personnel was "kind of like riding a bike." But the Tennessee Titans seeking to interview Mueller calls into question how long Mueller will be holding the handlebars in Miami. "I have no idea about the Tennessee thing," said Mueller, who last was deemed with having the final say in 2001 with the New Orleans Saints. "I have not talked to Tennessee. I have been here since we hired the coach and that's all I have to say about it. I have no idea about anything about it. End of story." Later, after being told that the rumors would continue unless he stated publicly he would not speak with the Titans, Mueller refused to close the door. Read more

Falcons adamant Vick won't be traded

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports QB Michael Vick isn't going anywhere. In light of the recent controversy surrounding their three-time Pro Bowl quarterback, the Falcons insist they have no plans to trade or release him before the 2007 season, according to a spokeswoman for team owner Arthur Blank. In fact, Vick will be back as the team's starter, thwarting speculation about his status or stature with the franchise. Read more

Browns name Alfredo Roberts TEs coach

The Cleveland Browns have named Alfredo Roberts tight ends coach, the club announced today. Roberts comes to Cleveland after serving as tight ends coach with the Jacksonville Jaguars for the past four seasons.  Prior to the Jaguars, Roberts spent four seasons as an assistant coach and wide receivers coach at Florida Atlantic University.
