Bucs taking another look at Boston

The Tampa Tribune reports don't be surprised if WR David Boston is back with the Bucs come training camp. The Bucs, who signed Boston as a free agent last spring but cut him the day before the regular season started, recently had the veteran receiver in for a visit and possibly a tryout, according to an NFL transaction report. Though he did perform admirably at times during training camp, Boston never showed the ability to play at a competitive level and was cut to make room for an extra guard. Read more

The Star-Ledger reports LB Antonio Pierce is at it again. One year after recruiting LB LaVar Arrington, the Giants' man in the middle is trying to convince another Pro Bowl linebacker to join him in East Rutherford: the Bears' Lance Briggs. It would create an ideal scenario for Pierce -- Arrington, his teammate with the Redskins, on one side with Briggs, his longtime friend and fellow Arizona Wildcat, on the other. "I talked to him about that," Briggs said yesterday, four days before the Bears face the Colts in the Super Bowl. "I told him, 'If it doesn't work out in Chicago, maybe.'" Read more

Rivera could roll into Dallas

The Star-Telegram reports Chicago Bears defensive coordinator Ron Rivera's first choice is to be an NFL head coach. But he wouldn't reject a raise. On the same day Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said no coach will be named until after the Super Bowl, Rivera's name popped up as a candidate for defensive coordinator on a possible Norv Turner staff.
