Thomas wants to stay a Raven

Baltimore Ravens
02/16/2007 10:17 AM
The Baltimore Sun reports if the Ravens don't use the franchise tag on LB Adalius Thomas next week, the All-Pro linebacker is still hopeful about returning to the team as a free agent. "The market sets itself every year. Hopefully, Baltimore will step up and get the deal done so I can retire a Baltimore Raven," Thomas told ESPN yesterday. "But it's still a business. They're going to do what's best for them, and I've got to do what is best for me." The chances of Thomas returning to the Ravens will diminish greatly once he becomes a free agent March 2. Other interested teams - such as San Francisco, New England, Cleveland and Green Bay - have more salary cap room than the Ravens and can offer Thomas substantially more in a long-term contract. Henry's agent, Hadley Engelhard, talked to Titans chief operating officer Steve Underwood about Henry's contract last Friday, and expects more talks before the NFL Scouting Combine next week in Indianapolis. "They want to re-do his deal and they want Travis back,'' Engelhard said Thursday. "We talked about philosophies and Travis' interest in staying there and length of deals and other types of deals for players that have been recent free agents. "It was a great conversation. I look forward to talking to Steve and or Reinfeldt in the near future.'' Read more

Optimistic Blank addresses key issues

Atlanta Falcons
02/16/2007 10:04 AM
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports the Falcons plan to continue using QB Michael Vick as the face of the franchise despite the team missing the playoffs the past two seasons. "He is our quarterback," owner Arthur Blank said. "He plays the most critical position. He gets the ball on every snap. We're proud of Michael. He's obviously a great player. He's a very fine person." Blank spoke about how he likes to be available in times of crisis, most recently involving Vick trying to carry a water bottle containing a false bottom on an airplane.
