Dielman gets his wish

The Dayton Daily News reports former Troy High School football standout Kris Dielman reportedly left a boatload of cash, to the tune of $10 million, on the table in Seattle, who attempted to sign the highly sought after free agent offensive guard.  Instead, Dielman signed a six-year deal with the San Diego Chargers worth $39 million, with $17 million guaranteed in the first two years. You ask why? Simple, Dielman's heart remained with San Diego throughout his one-day stint as a free agent. Read more

Davenport agrees to 2-year deal

The Post-Gazette reports the Steelers signed backup RB Najeh Davenport to a two-year, $2 million contract yesterday, paying him the kind of money that should put him high in their plans for next season. Davenport, who would have become an unrestricted free agent, received a $405,000 signing bonus, a salary of $595,000 this year and $1 million next year. He is entering his sixth season in the NFL. Colts release Stokley, Reagor

The Indianapolis Star reports the Indianapolis Colts' bid to repeat as Super Bowl champions likely won't include two players who missed their title run with injuries: WR Brandon Stokley and DT Montae Reagor. Each veteran had his contract terminated Thursday in cost-cutting moves. Rick Smith, Stokley's agent, confirmed the Colts' plans to release his client. Jeff Nalley, Reagor's agent, said the team was "terminating his contract. What a terrible business we are in.'' Read more
