The Dayton Daily News reports with the NFL draft a little less than three weeks away, teams have begun to narrow their choices as they give prospects a final once over during scheduled team visits and/or private workouts in preparation for draft day April 28-29. Each team is permitted to have 30 player visits until April 20 and teams are now herding them in like cattle before the deadline. This year's draft is expected to be full of surprises especially at the top of the heap with potential trade talks looming. Read more

Vikings pick up pre-draft pace

The Pioneer Press reports Clemson DE Gaines Adams and Tennessee WR Robert Meachem reportedly are among the players who will be attending the Vikings' mass pre-draft visit and dinner Wednesday, but Vice president of player personnel Rick Spielman said the team won't be confirming any names. CB Fletcher, Texans reach two-year deal

The Houston Chronicle reports the Texans continued to bolster their defense via free agency by signing veteran CB Jamar Fletcher. Fletcher, who visited the Texans on Wednesday, signed a two-year, $2.4 million contract. He will enter the offseason as the replacement for Lewis Sanders, who signed with the Atlanta Falcons. Fletcher will challenge Demarcus Faggins for the starting job opposite Dunta Robinson. Read more

Panthers agree to terms with QB David Carr

The Charlotte Observer reports QB David Carr, the first overall pick in the 2002 draft, agreed to terms on a two-year contract with the Carolina Panthers early Friday morning, according to a league source. Carr, 27, made the decision after returning from a two-day visit with the Seattle Seahawks and meeting with his wife at their California home late Thursday night. Carr had visited with the Panthers Monday and Tuesday. The financial terms of the deal weren’t immediately available. Read more
