The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports the first thing that strikes you about RB Jamal Lewis is his height. This football giant who tormented the Browns for 500 yards rushing in two games in 2003 is a couple of inches shy of 6 feet tall. But as Lewis approaches, two features captivate you. The Mercury News reports WR Ashley Lelie, a key free-agent acquisition, has yet to make it through a full practice with the 49ers, but he vows to make an impression once he recovers from a leg injury. “I don't want to miss these opportunities to jell with the quarterbacks and get on the same page with the offense, because it is complex,” Lelie said Monday. “You can't just study it in a class or a book or something. After participating in a third of the offensive plays previously, McCown and Russell split time with the first-team offense when the team's three-day mini-camp opened Monday. “JaMarcus looked really good," HC Lane Kiffin said. "Without going back to watch the film, it was JaMarcus' best practice since he's been here. That was glaring to me. I'll see if I still see that once I see the film. He looked real confident.” Read more

06/13/2007 8:30 AM
The Nashville Tennessean reports a day after CB Pacman Jones abandoned an appeal of his yearlong NFL suspension, Las Vegas police will take what they believe is a fortified case to the district attorney today, trying to persuade him to move forward with charges against the Titans cornerback. If Clark County District Attorney David Roger is swayed and moves forward, official charges against Jones probably would kill any chance he has to be reinstated by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell after 10 games this fall.
