Team releases three to trim roster to 86

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports the Rams pared their roster to 86 players Friday when they released undrafted rookies Stanley Daniels, a guard from Washington; Terrance Reaves, a cornerback from Villanova; and David Thompson, a guard from Massachusetts. The team also no longer is listing RB Marshall Faulk on its roster, although his retirement still isn't official, according to Jay Zygmunt, the team's president of football operations. Faulk announced his intention to retire three months ago at the NFL owners' meeting in Phoenix, but the paperwork with the league hasn't been filed. Zygmunt said he expected it to be completed next month. Read more

Bucs sign seventh-round pick

The Tampa Tribune reports the Buccaneers today announced the signing of CB Marcus Hamilton. Terms were not disclosed. Hamilton was a seventh-round pick (245th overall) in the 2007 NFL Draft out of the University of Virginia. He tied for third in school history, with current Bucs CB Ronde Barber, and tied for 13th in ACC history with 15 career interceptions. Hamilton, a two-time All-ACC second-team selection, led the Cavaliers in interceptions three consecutive years. He totaled 185 tackles, 19 passes defensed, 15 interceptions, one fumble recovery and one forced fumble in his college career. Read more

Tank faces possible DUI charge

The Arizona Republic reports Chicago Bears DL Tank Johnson was pulled over for speeding by Gilbert police early Friday, and had blood drawn at the police station on suspicion of driving impaired. Gilbert police spokesman Sgt. Andrew Duncan released a statement onthe arrest Friday afternoon with details of the Tempe McClintock High graduate's arrest. "Gilbert Police stopped Johnson for driving 40 mph in a 25-mph zone on Gilbert Road at about 3:30 a.m. on Friday morning. Observations were made at the scene leading the officer to believe that Johnson was impaired." Read more

Falcons high on rookie Anderson's talent, attitude

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports two months of offseason workouts are over, but for Falcons rookie DE Jamaal Anderson the real work begins now. "He's got all the physical tools that you want," Falcons defensive line coach Kevin Wolthausen said. "We knew we were getting a guy with all the physical tools, but he has only played the position for three years, so there's a lot of things, as you look, that more experienced players can feel and see. Some things are still new to him, which is normal. "From now through training camp will be huge for him." Read more
