Polamalu close to signing

The Post-Gazette reports S Troy Polamalu wanted to return to the West Coast to be near his family when his contract expired after this season, or so rumors have had it. If so, he will return for visits only. Polamalu, the most unique strong safety in the NFL and among its best, has come so close to a contract extension with the Steelers that sources close to the negotiations believe he will sign a new deal around the opening of training camp Monday. Ellis' camp status remains unclear

The Star-Telegram reports LB Greg Ellis, who is coming off a torn Achilles injury suffered last season, has yet to be cleared to play by team doctors. "Once he gets back from vacation, we'll see," said Ellis' agent, James D. Williams. "If the doctors clear him and he doesn't have any pain, he'll be where he's supposed to be [in training camp]. He's under contract." Williams did not know when Ellis could be cleared. Read more

Bills-Ravens a sellout

The Buffalo News reports the Buffalo Bills’ list of sold-out games continues to grow. The team announced Tuesday that after individual tickets went on sale Saturday, the game against the Baltimore Ravens on Oct. 21 sold out and only single seat tickets remain for the New England Patriots game Nov. 18. Those games join the Denver Broncos, New York Jets, and Dallas Cowboys games as sold out contests for this season. Read more
