Washington Redskins 07/23/2007 12:03 PMThe Washington Post reports during the lost season of 2006, when little went right for the Washington Redskins, injuries jabbed LB Marcus Washington as if he were a pin cushion. He spent the last two games on injured reserve because of a sore hip, and when the season ended and most players went home, Washington went to the operating table for hip surgery. The effects on Washington, clearly the most outwardly energetic defensive player, were obvious as the unit, especially its linebackers, struggled. Washington's 1,000-watt smile dimmed to a flicker. The perpetual motor wheezed. The unfailingly optimistic Washington was short in interviews, a physical presence virtually invisible in the locker room he usually illuminated.Read more
Pittsburgh Steelers 07/23/2007 11:55 AMThe Post-Gazette reports the Steelers will have all of their rookies in training camp today after coming to a five-year contract agreement with first-round draft choice LB Lawrence Timmons yesterday. Timmons, who has been working out in Pittsburgh, signed the contract yesterday at team headquarters. It is worth slightly less than $12 million in base salary and could be worth as much as $15 million with the incentives. He will receive various guaranteed bonuses of $8,053,000 that includes signing and roster bonuses.Read more

Mitchell enters his 14th season as defensive line coach, a job he will continue in his new capacity.
