Quinn makes impact as Browns beat Bears

AP reports QB Brady Quinn says he's ready to make an impact for the Cleveland Browns and he did in the preseason finale. When his next opportunity comes remains to be seen. The rookie from Notre Dame was efficient, if unspectacular, leading the Browns to a touchdown in a 19-9 victory over the Chicago Bears on Thursday night. Now, it's up to HC Romeo Crennel to decide if Quinn's time is sooner or later. Although incumbent QB Charlie Frye feels he did nothing to lose his job, Crennel said he won't announce the starter for the season-opener against Pittsburgh until next week. Read more

The Dayton Daily News reports how big is tonight for LB Matt Muncy? Very. It's his next chance, and last chance, to make a great impression. The undrafted rookie middle linebacker from Ohio University and Miamisburg High School is expected to play a lot in the base defense and on special teams when the Bengals host the Indianapolis Colts in the 2007 preseason finale for both clubs. The Dayton Daily News reports Bengals HC Marvin Lewis will do anything to improve his team. That includes acquisitions and terminations even after the roster gets sliced from 75 players to the 53-man limit Saturday. "There are a slew of guys here who are going to be released," Lewis said. "We'll continue to look for guys who can add to our roster, and generally that's helping on special teams. We're going to keep our eyes open and look for players who have what we need." Read more
