Broncos lead the race for Rice

The Denver Post reports as DE Simeon Rice was getting ready to dine Sunday night with a contingent led by HC Mike Shanahan, the Broncos already were in the lead and starting to pull away. "The Broncos are better than 50-50," Rice said. "They're like 55-45, maybe 60-40. Things are leaning their way. They're classy, man. All class. I want to knock on wood, but I feel like this is the place. I feel like this is a team that will challenge for the Super Bowl and create a Camelot type of experience." Read more

Panthers add safety Manuel

The Charlotte Observer reports the Panthers quickly pounced on S Marquand Manuel, who was released by Green Bay on Saturday. Manuel has agreed to terms with the Panthers, two league sources said. Carolina also has reached agreement with CB Dante Wesley, who was with the Panthers from 2002 to 2005. He was cut by Chicago after last season and was released by New England on Saturday. Read more

The Palm Beach Post reports the Miami Dolphins tapped into HC Cam Cameron's connections to San Diego as the team adjusted its 53-man roster on Sunday. A day after releasing 22 players to reach the NFL limit of 53, the Dolphins were awarded three players off waivers - offensive linemen Cory Lekkerkerker and Gene Mruczkowski, as well as WR Greg Camarillo, the team announced Sunday. Von Oelhoffen part of Eagles' d-line

The Trenton Times reports make room for DL Kimo von Oel hoffen, DB J.R. Reed and LB Pago Toga fau. All three will be wearing Eagles jerseys at today's practice as the team attempts to solidify its 53-man roster in time for Sunday's season opener at Green Bay.  Von Oelhoffen, a 6-foot-4, 300-pound defensive lineman, played mostly defensive end in a 3-4 alignment with his two previous employers, the Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers. The Eagles want him as a tackle to replace the injured DT Ian Scott, who was placed on the minor injured-reserve list, which gives him the right to sign and play for another team this season if his cranky knee permits.
