Cincinnati Bengals 09/07/2007 9:18 PMAP reports Bengals DE Frostee Rucker won't have to serve a one-game suspension from the NFL, but will miss the season opener anyway because of a lingering hamstring injury. The league proposed a one-game suspension after Rucker settled a domestic violence case in April. Rucker's agents appealed on grounds that the incident occurred while he was a college student. "We've received confirmation that the suspension was overturned," agent J.R. Rickert said Friday. "We're very happy about that. We think it's the right thing for Frostee." Bengals HC Marvin Lewis has declined to discuss the proposed suspension. Rickert said Lewis helped the second-year player with the appeal.Read more
Dallas Cowboys 09/07/2007 9:10 PMESPNâs John Clayton reports Dallas Cowboys HC Wade Phillips has ruled out WR Terry Glenn for Sunday night's game against the New York Giants because of a knee injury that could sideline him indefinitely.Glenn suffered an injury to his surgically repaired right knee during Wednesday's practice. On Aug. 1, Glenn had a cyst removed from the knee and missed the entire preseason. The injury suffered Wednesday was a new injury, possibly involving cartilage.Read more
Oakland Raiders 09/07/2007 9:08 PMESPNâs Len Pasquarelli reports in an effort to further close the gap in negotiations, and perhaps hammer out a contract for top overall draft pick QB JaMarcus Russell before the start of the season, the representatives for the former LSU quarterback are set to meet Friday with Oakland Raiders officials, according to sources. The scheduled talks, at an undisclosed location, will be the first face-to-face negotiations in about two weeks. The two sides previously met in Los Angeles, and were believed to have opened a solid and ongoing dialogue, but progress has been incremental since then.Read more
Atlanta Falcons 09/07/2007 9:06 PMESPNâs Len Pasquarelli reports DT Rod Coleman, the Atlanta Falcons' star who leads all NFL interior linemen in sacks over the past five seasons, underwent Friday morning arthroscopic surgery to clean out debris from his right knee and will miss the first 2-4 weeks of the regular season. The Falcons had hoped to have Coleman back for Sunday's opener at Minnesota, at least for spot duty and in passing situations, after he missed much of training camp and the preseason while rehabilitating from offseason surgery to repair a ruptured right quadriceps. The quad tear was sustained in a jet-ski accident in April on draft weekend.Read more
