Pittsburgh Steelers 01/01/2008 8:33 AMAP reports the Pittsburgh Steelers signed former University of Colorado standout WR Jeremy Bloom to the practice squad Monday. Bloom will be with the Steelers this week in preparation for their playoff game against visiting Jacksonville on Saturday night. Bloom likely will stay with the Steelers into next season. Bloom was cut by Philadelphia in September. He had a tryout with the Broncos in October.Read more
Atlanta Falcons 01/01/2008 8:32 AMThe Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports the Falcons have received permission to interview Dallas offensive line coach Tony Sparano, according to the Dallas Morning News. The newspaper cited unnamed sources. The interview is scheduled to take place Wednesday, according to the newspaper. Sparano, 46, is the Cowboys assistant head coach and has also been linked as a head-coaching candidate in Miami. Sparano is in charge of Dallas' offensive line and is the running game coordinator. He called plays in 2006 under then-coach Bill Parcells, but those duties were turned over to offensive coordinator Jason Garrett this season, when Wade Phillips took over for Parcells.Read more
Miami Dolphins 01/01/2008 8:30 AMThe Palm Beach Post reports after several days of seeing reports linking his name to the Dolphins, Jeff Ireland finally got a call Monday. On the other end of the line was Bill Parcells, asking the Dallas Cowboys' vice president of college and pro scouting if he wanted to interview for the Dolphins' general manager opening. "There was a fist pump there," Ireland told The Palm Beach Post. "I was excited." Ireland will be in South Florida to interview today.Read more
Miami Dolphins 01/01/2008 8:28 AMThe Palm Beach Post reports the Dolphins want to retain free-agent RB Jesse Chatman, his agent said Monday. Although the team is in flux, Miami apparently wants Chatman to remain part of what could be a loaded backfield. Already under contract are Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams. Samkon Gado is a restricted free agent. The team also has Lorenzo Booker. "We've only had the most basic of discussions, but I can say they have been positive discussions," said Chatman's agent, Brett Tessler.Read more
