Thomas named to AFC Pro Bowl

The Cleveland Browns left OT Joe Thomas has been named to the 2008 AFC Pro Bowl roster, the league announced today, replacing Jason Peters of the Buffalo Bills. Thomas, the third overall selection in last year’s 2007 NFL Draft, played in every snap this season and started all 16 games at left tackle.  Thomas was part of an offensive line that allowed only 19 sacks all season, which ranks tied for third fewest in franchise history. Vick enters drug program

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports suspended Falcons QB Michael Vick, who was sentenced to 23 months in federal prison for his guilty plea on charges related to dogfighting, plans to enter a drug treatment program that could reduce his time behind bars. "Mr. Vick has been transferred from the Northern Neck Regional Jail in Virginia to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons minimum security facility in Leavenworth, Kan.," his attorneys, Billy Martin and Lawrence H. Woodward Jr., said in a jointly issued statement Monday. "Mr. Vick hopes to participate in programs offered at that facility, including the Bureau of Prisons drug treatment program." Read more

Heckert is a top GM candidate

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports the Falcons could be nearing the end of their search for a general manager, which would then trigger their final push to find a head coach. The Falcons interviewed Philadelphia Eagles GM Tom Heckert for their vacant general manager job Monday in Atlanta and are scheduled to speak to one more prospective candidate this week — perhaps as soon as today. Following this week's round of interviews, an offer could be made, possibly before the weekend. Read more

The Palm Beach Post reports those who expect the Dolphins to hire Tony Sparano as the team's next head coach have one more reason to believe it after Monday. David Lee, who worked with Sparano and Bill Parcells for four seasons in Dallas, is slated to become the Dolphins new quarterbacks coach, a source said. Read more
