Garrett trims field to Ravens, Cowboys

01/17/2008 10:36 AM The Baltimore Sun reports Jason Garrett has narrowed his job choices to taking the Ravens' head coaching post or staying with the Dallas Cowboys and could decide today, an NFL source said last night. Garrett, the Cowboys' offensive coordinator, also has been courted by the Atlanta Falcons for their head coaching vacancy. After interviewing with the Ravens and the Falcons the past two days, Garrett flew back to Dallas last night to contemplate his future. Read more

Chiefs hire Gailey as offensive coordinator

01/17/2008 10:34 AM The Kansas City Star reports when he started his search for a new offensive coordinator, Herm Edwards could have gone after a bigger, more popular name: Mike Martz, Cam Cameron, Brian Billick. He could have found a bright, aggressive up-and-comer yet to make a name for himself in coaching, someone like Texas-El Paso’s Eric Price, who wound up interviewing for the job. None was a better fit for the Chiefs, in Edwards’ opinion, than Chan Gailey, which is why the veteran coach got the job Wednesday. Read more

Mora Joins List Of Interviewees

01/17/2008 10:31 AM The Washington Post reports Seattle Seahawks assistant coach Jim Mora became the fourth person to interview for Washington's vacant head coaching job, league sources said, meeting with owner Daniel Snyder at his home yesterday. Indianapolis Colts defensive coordinator Ron Meeks is expected to meet with Snyder today in what could be the final interview. Gregg Williams, the Redskins' assistant head coach-defense, is seen by many around the league as the leading candidate to succeed Joe Gibbs. Read more

Miami hires Sparano; Garrett still undecided

01/17/2008 10:30 AM The Star-Telegram reports the Cowboys have already lost one assistant to a head coaching vacancy, but it may stop at that. On the same day offensive line coach Tony Sparano was introduced as the new head coach of the Miami Dolphins, Cowboys offensive coordinator Jason Garrett interviewed a second time with the Falcons in Atlanta. According to an NFL source, he was scheduled to return to Texas on Wednesday evening. He's scheduled to talk to Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, most likely today. Read more
