Atlanta Falcons 01/17/2008 10:45 AMThe Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports Cowboys offensive coordinator Jason Garrett was scheduled to leave Atlanta and return home to Dallas Wednesday evening and ponder head-coaching opportunities presented over the past two days from the Falcons and Baltimore. It is not known whether Garrett left Atlanta with a formal offer after interviewing with the Falcons Tuesday evening and most of Wednesday. Garrett spent most of his second day's interview with Falcons owner Arthur Blank and newly hired general manager Thomas Dimitroff at the team facility in Flowery Branch. It was Garrett's second interview with Blank but his first with Dimitroff, who was hired last weekend.Read more
Indianapolis Colts 01/17/2008 10:40 AMThe Indianapolis Star reports while Tony Dungy continues to ponder his future as head coach of the Indianapolis Colts, speculation has focused on assistant head coach Jim Caldwell as his possible replacement. A Dungy-to-Caldwell transition would likely be smooth and involve little change for a franchise that will return the bulk of its roster for the 2008 season. It would also represent a major step up for Caldwell, who turned 53 Wednesday. Caldwell has been one of Dungy's assistants since Dungy's final season at TampaBay in 2001. He has been the Coltsquarterbacks coach the past six seasons, working closely with two-time MVP Peyton Manning, and was elevated to assistant head coach in 2005. That season, Caldwell ran the team for a week, including during a game at Seattle, when Dungy was with his family following the death of his son, James.Read more
