Bengals waive Manning

The Dayton Daily News reports the Cincinnati Bengals waived LB Roy Manning. Manning, from the University of Michigan, is a fourth-year NFL player in 2008. He was acquired by Cincinnati on waivers from Jacksonville on Nov. 13 of last season and played in five games, with seven special teams tackles. Read more

Colts, Redskins in Hall of Fame game

The Indianapolis Star reports the Indianapolis Colts will help open the NFL's preseason schedule on a venerable stage. They will meet the Washington Redskins on Aug. 3 in the Pro Football Hall of Fame game at Fawcett Stadium in Canton, Ohio. The game, which carries an 8 p.m. kickoff, is part of a week-long celebration that includes induction ceremonies for this year's Hall of Fame class. The game is played the day following the hall's induction ceremony. Read more

Green, Shelton and Booker among cuts by Dolphins

The Palm Beach Post reports the Dolphins took their first significant steps toward revamping their roster this afternoon, terminating the contracts of a few big-name veterans and waiving some prospects who didn't pan out. The Dolphins dropped QB Trent Green, WR Marty Booker, OT L.J. Shelton and DT Keith Traylor. They waived offensive linemen Anthony Alabi, Marion Dukes and Joe Toledo and defensive linemen Anthony Bryant and Marquay Love. Read more

The Dayton Daily News reports with the 2007 NFL season officially ending on Sunday with the Pro-Bowl, today is the start of the 2008 season as teams prepare for free agency and the draft, April 26-27. The first order of business for the league is the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, which gets underway Feb. 20 through 26. Over three hundred college prospects are invited to participate in the event and will be interviewed, tested, timed and evaluated on their athletic ability by top executives, coaching staffs, player personnel departments and medical personnel from all 32 NFL teams.
