Seahawks put tag on CB Trufant

ESPN’s John Clayton reports the Seattle Seahawks placed the franchise tag on CB Marcus Trufant Wednesday, according to his agent Mike Sullivan. Sullivan, who was flying Wednesday to the Indianapolis Combine, said he received the paperwork for the designation Wednesday afternoon. Trufant and Raiders CB Nnamdi Asomugha are the two cornerbacks who received franchise tags. Both were tagged on Wednesday. The one-year tender for a cornerback receiving the franchise tag is $9.465 million. For another team to sign him, they would have to reach agreement on an offer sheet. The Seahawks would have seven days to decide if they wanted to match the offer. If they didn't match the offer, the signing team would have to give the Seahawks two first-round draft choices. Dolphins sign CB Lehan

The Palm Beach Post reports The Dolphins arrived at the NFL scouting combine ready to work. Within hours of touching down in Indianapolis they re-signed their first free agent of the off-season, reaching an agreement with CB Michael Lehan on a three-year deal worth $4.95 million, a source has informed The Palm Beach Post. Falcons' draft fate rests on coin flip

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports the Falcons will learn Friday whether they will hold the third, fourth or fifth selection at the NFL draft April 26-27. A coin-flip tiebreaker will be held at the scouting combine in Indianapolis, which begins today when prospects report for physicals. Atlanta, Oakland and Kansas City finished with 4-12 records. The Falcons and Raiders flip for the No. 3 pick, behind Miami and St. Louis respectively. The loser is then paired against Kansas City to round out the top five in order. Read more

Colts make Clark 'franchise' player

The Indianapolis Star reports the Indianapolis Colts confirmed Tuesday night they designated TE Dallas Clark their "franchise'' player. That's tantamount to a one-year contract worth the average of the league's top five tight ends in 2007: $4.522 million. The team also reached agreement on a long-term contract with starting OG Ryan Lilja, one of several Colts in line to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the month. The five-year deal is worth approximately $20 million. Read more
