Bengals tender QB Fitzpatrick

The Cincinnati Bengals today announced that the team has made a tender offer to QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, making him a restricted free agent. Fitzpatrick is classified a  fourth-year NFL player in 2008. By making the tender, the Bengals gain the right to retain Fitzpatrick by matching any offer sheet he would sign from another team. Fitzpatrick could also remain with the Bengals by signing the tender offer, or by negotiating a longer-term contract with Cincinnati. Read more

The Cincinnati Bengals today announced that the team has made tender offers to WR Glenn Holt, LB Rashad Jeanty and LB Corey Mays. All three were with the Bengals in 2007 and are classified as third-year NFL players in 2008. Their contracts have expired, but they do not have sufficient experience to gain free agency, and by making the tender offers, the Bengals retain their exclusive NFL rights for ’08. The players each have the option of signing the tender offer or negotiating a longer-term contract with Cincinnati. Read more

Barber Gets Highest Tender

The official website of the Dallas Cowboys reports the club sent one-year tenders to three restricted free agents, including RB Marion Barber, who received the highest tender available. The Cowboys beat the NFL's 3 p.m. deadline on Thursday to send out restricted offers and tendered Barber with a one-year contract of $2.562 million. He is free to negotiate with other clubs and can sign an offer sheet. The Cowboys then would have seven days to match the deal and if they chose to pass, they would receive a first- and third-round draft pick in return. Read more

Kelly signs seven-year, $50.5 million contract with Raiders

ESPN’s John Clayton reports the Oakland Raiders stepped forward Thursday on the eve of free agency and signed DL Tommy Kelly to the largest contract ever given to a defensive tackle. Kelly, a defensive end scheduled to move to defensive tackle this season, signed a seven-year, $50.5 million contract Thursday that has $18.125 million in guarantees. In the first three years of the deal, he will make $25.125 million. Read more
