Bengals keeping Geathers
Cincinnati Bengals01/11/2007 7:48 AM The Dayton Daily News reports the Bengals wanted DE Robert Geathers for the long haul, and they've got him. Geathers, the Bengals' first double-digit sack artist in 14 years, reached agreement with the club on a six-year contract worth as much as $33.7 million if he reaches all his incentives. William L. Johnson, Geathers' Atlanta-based agent, finalized the deal with Troy Blackburn, the Bengals director of business development, on Wednesday. Geathers is due to earn $14 million in salary ($1.5 million) and bonuses ($12.5 million) in 2007. His contract rivals the five-year, $30 million extension Robert Mathis signed with the Indianapolis Colts on June 19. Read more
