Dolphins to talk to Martz; Carroll confirms meeting

The Palm Beach Post reports after adding former St. Louis Rams coach Mike Martz to their list of candidates, the Dolphins say they should be done with the first phase of finding a new coach by the end of the week. That list of candidates also includes University of Southern California coach Pete Carroll, who on Tuesday confirmed for the first time that he spoke to owner Wayne Huizenga about the Dolphins' open position. "Our mind-set is we're getting toward the end of it," Dolphins CEO Joe Bailey said. "We think we're getting there." The Dolphins, who have interviewed nine candidates, will talk with Martz today in Detroit, where he is the Lions' offensive coordinator, a source said. Carroll spoke to reporters on the USC campus after returning from a vacation in Costa Rica, where the Dolphins flew to meet with him for four hours on Sunday. Read more
