Stokley likely out with Achilles injury

The Indianapolis Star reports WR Brandon Stokley immediately knew it was serious, and so did those watching him. As the Indianapolis Colts wide receiver lay on the field after going down early during the third period Sunday at Jacksonville's Alltel Stadium, he slammed his hand on the turf in pain and frustration. "You've seen it happen to great athletes and you don't know what causes it. I mean, he was just coming off the line and he ruptured his Achilles, I believe," said veteran WR Ricky Proehl, who signed with the Colts as a free agent on Nov. 29. "Very painful. Disappointing. He's worked so hard." HC Tony Dungy confirmed that Stokley, 30, had suffered a serious Achilles tendon injury but offered no update on his status Monday, the day after the Colts' 44-17 loss at Jacksonville. Read more
