Cleveland having trouble in red zone
Cleveland Browns11/22/2006 8:09 AM The Dayton Daily News reports Jeff Davidson may be a genius play-caller, but when it comes to the red zone, he's been no Maurice Carthon. Since Davidson took over as offensive coordinator following Carthon's firing, the Browns have four touchdowns to show for the 13 times they've been inside their opponents' 20-yard-line. Under Carthon, the Browns scored nine TDs in 16 trips to the red zone. In Sunday's 24-20 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Browns failed to score an offensive touchdown, settling for field goals both times they entered scoring territory. The play-calling leaned toward conservative, as if the Browns did not completely trust Charlie Frye, who leads the NFL in quarterback turnovers. Read more
