Crennel gives Browns extra day off
Cleveland Browns11/21/2006 8:09 AM The Dayton Daily News reports it's customary following big, emotional victories for NFL coaches to give their players Monday off as a reward. It's less customary after a defeat, but Cleveland Browns HC Romeo Crennel is trying it this week. "Because they're tired, they've worked hard, this is past the halfway point of the season, and I've got several guys who need to recover," Crennel said. "I want them to recover so we can have the same kind of effort next week." The absence of players from the building left a cold-suffering Crennel alone to discuss the fourth-quarter meltdown that led to Sunday's 24-20 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers and sank his team's record to 3-7.
