Sources: Raiders might release pricey players Hall, Walker

The San Francisco Chronicle reports Al Davis and other Raiders staff met Tuesday to discuss the possibility of jettisoning several high-profile players, including cornerback DeAngelo Hall and wide receiver Javon Walker, two people close to the situation confirmed. The release of Hall, 24, would qualify as a major shocker. The Raiders traded second- and fifth-round draft picks to the Atlanta Falcons in March to acquire Hall. They did so with the hope that Hall would form a nice complement to standout Nnamdi Asomugha and give the Raiders two shutdown cornerbacks. Hall struggled from the outset, and opponents focus on throwing passes to his area every game. By comparison, Asomugha has faced only nine passes in eight games. Read more
