Chiefs await ruling on Johnson after he meets with NFL commissioner
Kansas City Chiefs10/29/2008 7:22 PM The Kansas City Star reports RB Larry Johnson met Tuesday in New York with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell to discuss Johnson’s recent brushes with trouble, which could lead to a suspension for Kansas City’s embattled rusher. The league has not yet ruled on a suspension, but Chiefs coach Herm Edwards said nothing Tuesday to indicate that Johnson would return to the lineup Sunday against Tampa Bay. Other than that, Edwards said all he could do was wait and see — like everyone else — what happens to Johnson. “They’ll do what’s right for the league,” he said. “That’s what they always do. Whatever the commissioner decides to do, we’ll stand behind him 100 percent. I know this organization does. He’ll do what’s right. “It will all work out, whatever they decide.” NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said late Tuesday afternoon that the league had no announcement regarding Johnson’s situation and that there was no timetable for any such announcement.
