McCown likely to be activated
Tampa Bay Buccaneers10/31/2006 8:21 AM The Tampa Tribune reports the Bucs have six days before their evaluation period of QB Luke McCown expires. It probably won't take that long before they add McCown, sidelined since tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during a June minicamp, to the 53-man roster. "We like the fact that Luke has come back from his injury as quickly as he has," HC Jon Gruden said. "He has taken some snaps on the practice field. We will make that determination here in the next four or five days. But we are gaining confidence in his return." To make room for McCown, the Bucs likely will place QB Chris Simms on injured reserve. Simms, idle since Sept. 24 when he had emergency surgery to remove his spleen, finds out this week when he can begin rehabilitating. Read more
