McCareins, Dyson released by Jets
New York Jets02/27/2008 4:40 PM The Star-Ledger reports the Jets began housecleaning yesterday by waiving starting left OG Adrien Clarke and releasing WR Justin McCareins and CB Andre Dyson. None of the moves was unexpected. By releasing McCareins, the Jets save his $1.08 million base salary in 2008 and a $2.5 million roster bonus that was due him next month. Dyson was due to earn a $1.2 million base salary in 2008. The Jets are thought to be roughly $20 million to $25 million under the $116-million salary cap with free agency set to begin Friday. Steelers left OG Alan Faneca and Patriots CB Asante Samuel are believed to be among the players on the Jets' radar. Read more
