Patriots offer Thomas contract

The Palm Beach Post reports LB Zach Thomas today began making his rounds in search of a new employer, and he received his first offer just as quickly. The seven-time Pro Bowler, released Thursday after 12 years with the Dolphins, visited the New England Patriots on Monday. A source close to Thomas said the AFC champions tried to lock up the middle linebacker with a contract offer. But the source added no deal was expected to be signed until after this week's NFL combine in Indianapolis. That would give other teams a chance to enter the Thomas derby. Read more
