Clemens to start Sunday

The Star-Ledger reports QB Chad Pennington and QB Kellen Clemens sensed for weeks that the day was coming when the cagey veteran would be replaced by the promising second-year pro. The friends took an oath to support each other no matter what happened. Yesterday, that day came when Jets coach Eric Mangini called the pair into his office in separate meetings to inform them he was benching Pennington and starting Clemens on Sunday against the Redskins (4-3) at Giants Stadium. "I'm disappointed," said Pennington, whose 5½-year reign as the Jets starter appears over. "It's a frustrating time for me. But at the same time, it's not about me. ... I was on the other side of this situation in 2002, and learning from Vinny (Testaverde), how he handled the situation, how he treated me, how he never changed ... how us as teammates looked at him, it never changed.
