Cameron happy to be part of Brees' life

The Palm Beach Post reports Dolphins HC Cam Cameron has a hard time talking about his relationship with New Orleans QB Drew Brees, who played for Cameron for four seasons in San Diego. Asked Tuesday to characterize it, Cameron's face reddened, his eyes watered up and his voiced cracked with emotion. "I can't even get the words out to describe what it means to have been a part of Drew Brees' life," said Cameron, whose Dolphins play the Saints on Thursday in New Orleans. "I can tell you that." After he paused for a moment to gather himself, Miami's first-year coach concluded: "It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to coach a guy like that." Cameron and Brees' interaction went beyond football. The men's families, for example, often attended church together. On the field, Cameron helped the 6-foot Brees become one of the NFL's best quarterbacks. Brees, a second-round pick in the 2001 draft, was inconsistent during his first two years as a starter, in 2002 and 2003. Read more
